USDA School Meal Program Announcement

The USDA recognizes that many families are still struggling with the economic effects of COVID-19. As a result, the USDA has extended school meal waivers tentatively through December 31, 2020, allowing school districts to serve free breakfast and lunch meals to all children, regardless of a family's economic status.  At this time, the Upper Adams School District will participate in this waiver and implement free meals for all students effective Monday, September 14, 2020.  This free meal will be for one regular breakfast and/or lunch per student per day.  Second meals, extra milk, and a la carte items are NOT included in this waiver, and will be charged to student’s accounts accordingly.

For students in grades 7-12 and Canner Cyber Connection students, pre-ordered meals for at home days will still be available for Wednesday evening pickup and will be offered for free as well.  Please note that although they will be offered for free, completion of the survey is required in order to receive these meals.  Next survey will be sent on or around September 17, 2020.

Please be aware that at this time, the waiver only extends to December 31st, 2020.  After that date, students will go back to their original eligibility status of free, reduced, or paid.  With that being said, I strongly encourage families to continue to complete and submit the application for free or reduced meals if you feel you may qualify.  This will ensure your child will be eligible for their particular status when the waiver expires.
