Mrs. Sonia Buckley
Hello! My name is Sonia Buckley. I am excited and honored to be the Principal at the Upper Adams Intermediate School. Although I am not originally from this area, I have been a resident of Adams County since 1992. I currently reside in Gettysburg with my husband and two children.
I am a graduate of Shippensburg University where I studied elementary education. I have been dedicated to the Upper Adams School District since my student teaching experience in 1991 where I was fortunate to be assigned to Biglerville Elementary teaching second grade. Upon graduation, I taught a variety of ability levels in the district ranging from second grade to the Gifted Program. I then spent nineteen years of my career as a 5th grade teacher at Arendtsville Elementary School. To further my skills, I enrolled at Western Maryland College to earn a master’s degree in Special Education and then continued on to obtain a degree in educational administration at McDaniel College in Maryland. In 2015, I was honored to become the principal of Arendtsville Elementary School and now the Upper Adams Intermediate School.
Throughout my career at Upper Adams I have been committed to the students and families of this district. I have learned that personal connections are an important part of education and I will continue to work hard to foster these relationships. Ensuring the highest quality of education while providing a safe environment is also a top priority. At the intermediate school we will strive to motivate and inspire all students to become competent, creative, compassionate and confident. I have always had an open-door policy and will continue with that philosophy as principal. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns, suggestions, or ideas you may have to make this a successful year. I look forward to working with you and your child.
