General

HSF Youth Leadership Institute

The Youth Leadership Institute is a free, four-day, overnight, college empowerment conference for Latino high school juniors held at two top universities across the US. This highly selective program is designed to give young Latino leaders the practical tools they need to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and set a course for academic and career success. Students have 2 options for the program: July 8-12, 2020 – University of Chicago or July 22-26, 2020 –  University of Southern California. Eligibility requirements include: current high school junior (Class of 2021), identify as being of Hispanic heritage, Latino students from all socioeconomic backgrounds are welcome to apply, 3.0 GPA or above, on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent based on your school scale, currently attend high school in the United States or US territory, and plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college/university after high school graduation. The application deadline is March 15, 2020.

Young Leaders Summit

The Young Leaders Summit, presented by the Youth Leadership Consortium (YLC), is a free, four-day, overnight, college empowerment conference at the University of Southern California for a diverse cohort of 200 low-income high school juniors from all ethnic backgrounds, selected through a competitive application process. It is designed to give these young leaders the practical tools they need to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and set a course for academic and career success. The Youth Leadership Consortium is a partnership, led by HSF, of organizations brought together by the mission to provide students and families of all backgrounds and ethnicities with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher education. Eligibility requirements include: current high school junior (Class of 2021), students from all ethnic backgrounds are welcome to apply, low income, as defined by Pell eligibility (more details are included in the application), 3.0 GPA or above, on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent based on your school scale, currently attend high school in the United States or a US territory, and plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university after high school graduation. The dealine to apply is April 15, 2020.

F&M Summer Scholars

F&M Summer Scholars is a residential, pre-college program for academically curious and leadership driven middle and high school students, entering grades 6-11. With two, exciting three-week sessions, this unique program is an opportunity for students to pursue their academic interests, build leadership skills and strengthen civic responsibility—all while experiencing F&M’s rich traditions and campus life. Session 1: June 28-July 17, 2020 Session 2: July 19- August 7, 2020. Scholarships and financial aid are available. The application opens on October 29, 2019 and are accepted on a rolling basis.

Johns Hopkins University CTY (Center for Talented Youth)

Three week academic and social camp at various sites both in the U.S. and abroad for 7-12th grade students. Try out an academic subject field that you want to learn more about before going to college! QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program

Georgetown College Prep Program

In this five-week program, you’ll have the opportunity to take classes alongside current undergraduate students, learn from renowned Georgetown faculty, and earn college credit. Throughout the program, you’ll also attend College Prep Seminars, where you’ll master test-taking strategies for the SAT and ACT, learn tips to prepare for the college search and admissions process, and develop valuable skills that will help you succeed in college and beyond. This program is open to current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Program Duration: July 5th - Aug 7th. Apply By Priority App due April 15, 2020. Penn State Mini-Medical Camp

Hosted at the Milton Hershey Medical Center, this is a great opportunity to expereince a unique curriculum on the field of medicine and Penn State College of Medicine's contributions to research and health care. This camp is free and open to everyon from high school students to retired seniors. Topics that will be covered include "What happens when you get sick? Who takes care of you?", "What does it take to become a doctor?", and "Cannabidiol, Medical Marijuana, Vaping". The camp will be held on March 3, 10, and 17 from 6-9 PM. Cedar Crest College Annual Forensic Science Symposium

This is an annual event run by the Forensic Science Student Organization at Cedar Crest College. The event will showcase the reality of working in the field of forensic science. This year, the lineup of speakers will discuss interesting cases in drug chemistry, crime scene reconstruction, DNA analysis and forensic investigation. Student will also get a presentation on Forensic Science Educational Programs Accredidation Commission, a presentation about Cedar Crest's admissions process, a tour of the college's science labs, and a complimentary lunch. Art and Music

Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Access and Inclusion

Three or six week academic programs created to give students a taste of Carnegie Mellon. Rising high school Juniors or Seniors can enroll in the following options: art/design, architecture, drama, and music. NO tuition, housing, or dining fees if you are selected for this program. Designing A Digital Future Camp

Hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology, this two-day workshop provides students with hands-on learning opportunities. Workshops include: Gaming, Simulation, Computer Programming, Interactive Media, Mobile Application, Social Networking Applications, and Web Design! For students grades 10-12. Lebanon Valley Summer Music Camp

Learn from professional music faculty during this week-long program open to all high school students. They also have a program available to Junior High students this year. What you do: you plan your own camp experience by selecting a variety of primary programs, ensembles, and lessons. Performance areas include concert band, string ensemble, piano, guitar/bass, jazz band, theater vocals, songwriting, and Music and Audio Production. Penn State Summer Programs

Go to Penn State anywhere between 2.5 - 6.5 weeks for a full academic experience. Take classes, experience life on a “big ten” campus, and engage in an opportunity for personal growth. There are many courses to choose from, including art, astrophysics, theater, and government! Students can also participate in a community service camp where they combine academics and service. You can also have the opportunity to participate in either an internship or a rigorous SAT/ACT prep class. Messiah Young Filmmakers Workshop

The Young Writers Workshop is designed to help students improve their skills as writers and make great friends with people that share their same passion. Registration is open to students entering 9th - 12th grade in the Fall 2020. The Young Filmmakers Workshop designed to foster a community of young filmmakers through an enriching summer camp environment.  It will also provide college-level filmmaking skills for students entering grades 10 - 12 in Fall 2020.  This workshop is taught by industry professionals and experienced Messiah College faculty.  Students will discuss and practice storyboarding, shot construction and hands-on camera training. Susquehanna Univeristy Summer Programs

High school students looking for exceptional summer educational programs have a number of exciting and rewarding options at Susquehanna University. Each program allows attendees to get a taste of college life as they are immersed in week-long programs that will challenge, inspire and prepare them for the future. Program opportunities are available in the following areas: Wind Ensemble, Entrepreneurial Institute, Writer’s Workshop, Actor's Institute, Choral Institute. DeSales University Summer Video Institute

The Summer Video Institute offers professional filmmaking skills to students. This residential program begins June 24th and will finish with a public screening of all the films on June 29th. During the weeklong program, each student will complete two films as well as learn to shoot using green screnn technology, manipulate images in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, edit in Adobe Premiere Pro CC and have access to DeSales' Yuneec Typhon 4K drone. Each student will receive a DVD or Blu-ray of their work as well as earn three college credits. For more information visit here. Application deadline is June 17, 2020.

Business

Georgetown Summer Institute

The Institutes at Georgetown University offer high school students an eight-day immersion into one of six subject areas. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore what interests you in an accelerated, hands-on environment while experiencing campus life and the excitement of Washington, DC. Programs include: Medicine, Law, Forensic Science, Politics, Business & Management, and Arts & Humanities. This program is non-credit bearing, but provides students a chance to explore their interests deeper. Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week

Week-long program where rising juniors and seniors can run their own business and learn about the free enterprise system. They will develop their own marketing strategies, design a website and in essence, make all of the decisions that are demanded of real life company executives. Professionals from all across the Commonwealth come to PFEW to get a chance to meet the best and brightest students the state has to offer! Each student company will work closely with a professional business volunteer who will mentor them throughout the week. To attend, submit an application (two essays required). Iacocca Global Entrepeneurship Intensive for high school students

Seventy-six students will be selected for the 2014 program. The purpose of the PSGE program is to expose students to the topics of entrepreneurship, globalization, team building, project management, leadership and working within a culturally diverse environment and to ignite the students’ spirit of creativity, innovation and learning. Sessions are facilitated by Lehigh faculty members as well as entrepreneurs and leaders of the local and international business community. The program is open to all current high school sophomores and juniors (ages 15-18).  Application to PSGE is a competitive process. Computer Science

Cybersecurity Summer Institute at HCC

The Cybersecurity Institute is a competitive seven-week program for area high school students and 2017 graduates that provides three college credits at the completion of the summer. This is a unique learning opportunity for high school students who are interested in advancing their education in a field related to cybersecurity, information technology, and computer science. Classes include CYB 101 – Introduction to Cybersecurity and IST 160 – Introduction to Security Fundamentals. This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DUE-1400528. Tuition will be funded partially by HCC’s ESSENCE program and a National Science Foundation grant.

Falcon Cyber Camp at Messiah College

The camp is a fun and exciting way to introduce students to the world of cybersecurity. Students will get to experience cybersecurity by exploring careers in cybersecurity, cryptography, digital forensics, ethical hacking, safe on-line behavior, and internet of things (IoT). The camp is also a chance for high school students grades 9-12 to expereince an introduction to what college life is all about. The camp will be held on July 29-31, 2020. Apply online by June 20th. 3D Object Modeling and Printing Camp at Gettysburg College

Spend 5 days at Gettysburg College, studying” 3D 3D object modeling and printing starting with the basics of a 3D printer. After learning the fundamentals, [you] will practice designing objects. Adruino Camp at Gettysburg College

English/Writing

Denison Reynolds Young Writers Workshop

A great opportunity for rising juniors, seniors, and college-bound students with a passion for writing. In small workshops in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, beginning poets and writers get the chance to develop their talents and refine their skills. Daily cross-writing classes give exposure to all the genres, while group sessions with visiting writers and readings enrich the experience. There’s also time to write individually and to meet with faculty one on one. Participants also contribute poems and short prose pieces to the Workshop Anthology, ready to take home at the week’s end. Messiah Young Writers' Workshop

Messiah Young Readers' Workshop

Readers will delve into readings by C.S. Lewis, J.R.R Tolkein, and others as a way to strengthen their love of reading, explore literary concepts, and immerse themselves into the world of high fantasy and science fiction. Additionally, students will team up with resident assistants to create literary podcasts and take part in worldbuilding activities. Registration is open to students in grades 9-12 in the Fall 2020. Engineering

Carnegie Mellon Summer Academy for Math and Science

Open to rising juniors and seniors who show strong academic potential, as well as an interest in math or science. The curriculum for students will include non-credit courses designed and taught by members of the Carnegie Mellon faculty, outstanding teachers and graduate students carefully chosen because of their commitment to teaching and their ability to relate to 11th and 12th grade students. Upperclass students will serve as classroom assistants, tutors and mentors to program participants. Courses will include engineering and science projects, as well as SAT/college preparation and advanced math courses. The courses, housing, and meals are FREE, but students will need to pay for their books, supplies, and transportation.  Penn Engineering Summer Academy

3-week program for rising 10th-12th graders from the University of Pennsylvania. Earn college credit in: Biotechnology, computer graphics, computer science, nanotechnology, robotics, or engineering complex networks. Students must have a minimum “B” average with preference for strong performance in math and science. St. Francis University Summer STEM Academy

A week-long programs designed to provide an opportunity for talented high school students between their sophomore/junior and junior/senior years to experience science, engineering, and computer science in action. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit while working in teams to complete a real world project and present their results. Programs are available in the following areas: Environmental Engineering, Gaming, Chemistry, Solar Power, and Exercise Physiology. Government/Civics

Campaigns and Elections Academy at Georgetown University

In Partnership with the Institute of Politics and Public Policy at the McCourt School of Public Policy, the U.S. Campaigns & Elections Academy will provide you with a framework to understand the elements needed for a successful campaign. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at campaigning and explore what it takes to start, manage, and lead a political campaign. Taking advantage of our location in the heart of the nation’s capital, you'll learn from political operatives and industry experts, attend college-level lectures, engage in group discussions, and participate in workshops, simulations, and field trips. You'll also study how campaign narratives are developed and gain tips for building a leadership team to win. At the end of the week, you'll put your newfound knowledge to work in a mock campaign, where you'll create a campaign plan as part of a team. Program Duration: July 26th– August 1st, 2020. Apply By: May 15th

Civil War Institute Summer Conference

This program allows student an “opportunity to explore the history of the Civil War era on the site of the war's most decisive battle.” It is a five day program held annually in June. The conference includes lectures, battlefield tours, breakout sessions, and other special activities. The CWI has sponsored this summer conference since 1983. Keystone Boys State

A week-long forum where boys practice procedures of the various branches of city, county and state legislature. The hands-on format at KBS has the youthful citizens forming and operating fictitious cities, four counties, and one state; they also form and operate two fictitious political parties; conduct all local and state law enforcement and judicial systems; form and conduct a bicameral state legislature. Keystone Girls State

A week-long forum where girls practice procedures of the various branches of city, county and state legislature. NRA Youth Education Summit

45 current sophomores and juniors with a GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) will travel to Washington DC to learn about the Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as the importance of civic affairs. In addition to the week-long trip, participants can compete for two $15,000 scholarships after participating in the program. Must submit an application form, transcript, essay, personal statement, and three letters of recommendation. For more information, see here. NIAHD Pre-Collegiate Summer Program in Early American History

A highly successful summer program located at the College of William & Mary. Rising juniors and seniors earn 4 college credit hours during this 3-week program, where they will live on campus and learn in and out of the classroom, visiting historic places to learn in-depth about American history. Students can choose to take either of two classes: “American History from Jamestown through the American Revolution” or “American History from the American Revolution through the Civil War.” Must submit transcript, short essay, teacher recommendation, and financial aid and in-state Domicile forms. Click here for more details. Program Duration: Session 1:  June 23 to July 13, 2019 or Session 2:  July 14 to August 3, 2019. Apply by: ASAP, selection begins February 15th.

State Police Youth Week

This is a six-day camp used to introduce students in all procedures of law enforcement.  You should be physically fit and have a good academic record to be able to participate. This is not a recreational camp. Cadets, must be between the ages of 15-17 (cannot turn 18 by the end of camp).The Post or District Commander, or his/her representative will interview each cadet nominated to select candidates, and their alternates.  Cadets must be in good health, with no physical defects, and have an average or above standing in their class and of course express a personal interest in either law enforcement or military service. Boston University Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists

PROMYS is a challenging 6-week program designed to encourage ambitious high school students (who are at least 15 years old) to explore the creative world of mathematics. Each summer, approximately 80 high school students from around the country gather on the campus of Boston University for six weeks of rigorous mathematical activity. Through their intensive efforts to solve an assortment of unusually challenging problems in Number Theory, participants will practice the art of mathematical discovery. Bryn Mawr MathILy

Open to any high school student with a passion for math. Class meets for about 7 hours per day, in two shifts (morning and evening), 6 days per week. Each class has a Lead Instructor who is a mathematician with a Ph.D. and one or two Apprentice Instructors who are graduate or undergraduate mathematics students. You'll learn how to be a mathematician---that includes acquiring good thinking habits, good problem-solving habits, and good writing habits. That will help you excel in collegiate mathematics classes and other collegiate classes, and for that matter in internships and research programs in many fields.
