Together, Chartwells and the Upper Adams School District is pleased to provide healthy, nutritious, and wholesome meals in a nurturing environment.  Our program will offer nutritious breakfasts and lunches to each and every student throughout each of the district’s three (3) schools.  We offer a great selection of hot and cold entrees, fruit and vegetable choices, whole grains and vegetarian items to meeting every child's need or discriminating taste. Best of all we have worked nutrition into the program to provide a great foundation to become healthy and successful young adults and link nutrition to education in our District!

➢      School meals remain nutritious, a great value and more satisfying than ever for both students and parents.

➢      We will utilize USDA government commodities that help support our farmers and provide many nationally branded products that you are already familiar with from home.

➢      Partners with local organizations will allow for us to purchase locally grown produce and support our community needs.

➢      We meet the 30% fat and 10% saturated fat guidelines established by the USDA as well as the other nutritional requirements for other vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

➢      We are proud of that fact that we strictly follow safety and sanitation guidelines and have consistently high scores (1>deduction) with our USDA inspections that are conducted two times a year in each kitchen facility 

➢      The milk served in our program is hormone free.

➢      We serve NO foods containing MSG.

➢      Our "ham" products are lean smoked or cured dark meat turkey providing a healthy alternative to pork.

➢      Our "sausage" products are chicken or turkey again providing a healthy alternative to pork.

➢      Our gelatin does not contain any pork by-products.

➢      We are proud to offer an assortment of healthy choices for children to build the basics of a good nutrition foundation for life.

At all building levels for a lunch to meet the new requirements for a reimbursable meal (free, reduced or paid) the student must have 3 components on their tray with 1 being either a fruit or vegetable. Components of a lunch include Fruit, Vegetable, Grain, Milk and Meat/Meat Alternate. If no fruit or vegetable choice is selected we will have to charge the a la carte price for the items chosen which far exceeds the cost of a lunch. 

We ask that parents and guardians please refrain from bringing in fast food and pizza meals to share with your child at lunch. In addition, birthday treats may not be distributed in the cafeteria. Please support our child nutrition program and our District Wellness initiatives for healthy students!

In our elementary program, we will offer several entrée choices each day.  If a student should arrive late to school, students and parents need not worry.  An additional amount of each item will be prepared by the food service staff to insure that student’s choices can be met.  As students move through the lunch line they will be served their meal choices and a milk.  At the end of the line each student will provide their ID information to a food service associate/cashier.    

In our middle/high school location students will have a number of meal choices to choose from including deli sandwiches, salads, yogurt parfaits, a choice of pizza selections , a number of hot sandwiches as well as a number of other hot selections available daily. Students will be allowed to select their meal choices including an entrée, their choice of fruits, vegetables and milk.  All foods are also available to purchase at the a la carte price.  If a student chooses not to select 3 of the 5 meal components (including a fruit or vegetable) to make a meal.  Students must use their ID information to ring up their lunches and access their accounts.

Meals Sold as a Unit

All meals are sold as a unit whether the student chooses the minimum of 3 components or the maximum of 5 components. There is no reduction in price for students that choose fewer items.
