MS207 Math Grade 7: This course builds on the mathematic skills of previous grades. Computational exercises are minimized while students learn to expand upon those skills, apply them to lifeskill situations and problem solving and incorporate their use into algebraic topics. Students will utilize current technology into their mathematics study. Students will need a scientific calculator and metric/inch ruler for home use.
MS237 Math Grade 7: This course builds on the mathematics skills of grades one through six. Computational exercises are minimized while students learn to expand upon previously learned skills and apply them to lifeskill situations involving problem solving in order to incorporate their use into algebraic topics. Students will integrate current technology into their mathematics study. Small group instruction at a slower pace will occur. Students will need a scientific calculator, protractor and metric/inch ruler for home use.
MS917 Algebra 1A – Grade 7: Prerequisite: Students must demonstrate high math abilities through class work, class assessments, benchmark testing, and PSSA assessments. Students must be recommended by their 6th grade teacher to take this course. Students will learn to describe the real world around them with algebraic expressions, equations, graphs, and statistics. Additional work will be done in geometry and probability, as well as incorporating technology into many aspects of the class. All students will be expected to be proficient with basic math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division for all forms of numbers including fractions and decimals. A scientific calculator will be needed for home use.
MS208: Algebra 1A Grade 8: Students will learn to describe the world around them with algebraic expression, equations, graphs, and statistics. They will use calculators and computers as well as outside references to enhance their learning. Students will continue in Algebra 1 in 9^{th} grade.
MS228: Algebra 1A Grade 8: Students will review basic skills and apply those skills to algebra concepts. Students will learn to describe the world around them with algebraic expressions, equations, graphs, and statistics. They will use calculators and computers as well as outside references to enhance their learning. Students will continue in Algebra 1 in 9^{th} grade.
MS218: Algebra 1B* Grade 8: Prerequisite: An average of 83% or higher in Algebra 1A Grade 7, recommendation of 7^{th} grade Math teacher and parent approval. Students will learn to describe the world around them with algebraic expression, equations, graphs, and statistics. They will use calculators and computers as well as outside references to enhance their learning. This is a continuation of Algebra 1A and will result in completion of Algebra 1 by the end of 8^{th} grade. Students will take the Keystone Exam in Algebra at the end of the year.
