• Precalculus/Trigonometry*
  • CLASS DESCRIPTION

The class begins with a quick study of linear functions...no more than one week...because linear functions have been studied in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.  Time to move on to other functions: quadratic, cubic, absolute value, square root, polyonomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse functions for all the functions that we study.  Inverse functions will be a huge part of the curriculum as will the transformation of functions.  Transformation of functions is just moving the "parent" function around using a series of translations, scale changes, and reflections.  In general, we spend half of the year on "Algebra III" topics that would be classified as "precalculus" and half of the year on trigonometry.  Out of everything I teach, trigonometry is my favorite!!!
